Weekend activities

As we are the local experts on what Atlanta kids love, we are your one stop shop for entertaining your children. We are constantly researching to find fun activities around town that you and your family will enjoy. Attending local events helps to instill in your child a sense of community and will create memories that will last a lifetime. This is what’s going on this weekend. Its All About You Birthdays will be hosting a carnival themed booth at the Fall Family Festival at Newton Park. The Festival is free and will have a giant slide, face painting, a bounce house, animal demonstrations and much more. Make sure to come by our booth and enter our raffle to win 2 dozen themed cupcakes or cake pops delivered to your child’s class party or an alternate event. http://www.johnscreekga.gov/community/events/fallfestival.asp The Georgia Aquarium will be having a Pirate & Princess day where kids under 12 dressed in their finest princess, prince or pirate attire will receive free admission with each paying adult. Picky Eater Predicament

"Won't touch that!" Nah na na na. Moms are raving about this new Eggo commercial! We have all battled to get our picky eaters to eat healthy foods. Now, I am no expert, but in today's blog I will share some thoughts that I live by and I will also include some tips from the experts. I would also love to hear your tips and tricks for getting your picky eaters to try new foods. My #1 rule - Kids are little people. What I mean by that is one day you may eat 3 bowls of cereal and the next day your not interested at all. Children are the same way, plus their taste buds are still developing and changing regularly. If they don't like it today - try again tomorrow! My 2nd rule is hungry children are more likely to try new things. Try to limit the snacking so that they build up their appetite. The 3rd rule I have integrated into meal time is, "Just 1 Bite". Now, I will be honest, sometimes I do have to fight to get him to try the first bite, but once he tries it he will usually eat more. My last rule is don't limit your kid's food choices to what you like. Buffets are a great place to get your child to try new items that may not be on your grocery list. Once you see that he likes those yucky Lima beans you can add them to your grocery list just for him. Now a few tips from the experts: adding new foods with well liked foods is a good strategy. Set an example by eating healthy foods in front of them and let them sample from your plate. As we all know, kids firmly believe whatever you have is better than whatever they have! Lastly, don't make your child "clean their plate" they know when they are full, forcing them will create negative reactions and may cause discomfort. Well, I hope these tips help you face your picky eater challenges. I look forward to hearing your tips.

Rainy day crafts

Okay Atlanta Moms we've experienced quite a few rainy days. Are you pulling out your hair running out of indoor ideas? Have you played every board game more times than you care to remember. Here is a great indoor idea that is sure to please.  All kids love to explore, use their imagination & engage in creative activities.  All you have to do is attach tape to your walls in all different ways or if you prefer cut strands of yarn and tape those to floor or walls. After you have completed that you now have a state of the art laser course for your top secret spies to climb through. And when they have mastered that course start all over and create a brand new one! An inexpensive, easy, and super fun activity on a rainy day!
